Topic explanation
Indicates the entrance to a primary extra-urban road (and therefore a dual carriageway).
If crossed by a red transverse stripe, it indicates the end of the road.
If green in colour, it indicates the start of a motorway.
It may appear in a reduced (small) format on advance warning or lane selection signs.
It is not true that it indicates the presence of a flyover or prescribes driving in parallel lanes.
Not to be confused with the 'U-TURN' sign.
