It is a warning sign that announces (usually 150 metres in advance) a general hazard, other than those indicated by other warning signs.
An additional plate is mandatory below the sign to specify the type of hazard (for example: RAILWAY CROSSING, ICE, SNOW PLOWS IN OPERATION, ROADWORKS IN PROGRESS, etc.).
It may be used without additional plates to indicate a general hazard in the event of an emergency.
It indicates that the driver should proceed with caution.
